Punch Brand flashback: Looking for inspiration

Nothing better to get the creative juices flowing than a Bjork video. Still one of my favorite artists of ALL TIME. I started listening to Bjork during my Ryerson University years. And would blast my DEBUT cassette tape on my Sony Ghetto Blaster until the tape was worn out. Then I would do the same thing with POST. It kept me happy and from going insane from severe home sickness when I moved into Res. I bought ALL her CDs, Singles, Re-mix Albums up to Medulla, Soundtracks including Selma Songs and own the Volumen Video album on VHS. Talk about Old School!!! ha ha.

I also got into the Sugarcubes and have the Great Crossover Potential album, my favorite song is Regina. I was so inspired by her Album covers especially from Post and by Me Company which did a lot of her videos and album covers during that time. I loved the 3D computer generated artwork. It was the foundation of early Punch Brand designs and what I based a lot of the inspiration for my year end graduation collection.

That was 17 years ago and it still looks fresh and modern to me today. She is really a true artist and a pioneer in music, art,and fashion, who can forget the swan dress? Love it or hate it, she’s not afraid to show her individuality.

Many of my early designs for Punch Brand was inspired by Digital art like this.

Happy New Year!

So it’s been a couple weeks since the start of the new year. And we’re already fully into the swing of things. Having your own company is great but you can never take too much time off or the work piles up. Too bad we don’t have little minions to do the work for us We took a few days off between Christmas and new years to visit friends and family. We were back in Toronto for about 10 days to visit our family in the East Coast. I got to do a bit of shopping and bought some funky new ankle boots. Yay!! As for Christmas presents, I got a few things on my wish list. Like a Dust Buster!

You might think it’s lame but I think its great… no more dusting with the swiffer cause my office gets really dusty. It’s such an awesome device it sucks up all the dust and threads really fast. ha ha. And I got a great “Too Faced” makeup brush set from my husband.

Now I can do makeup like a professional! And hide those tired bags under my eyes

Sneak Preview- Stripe Panda Hoodies

We have exciting news here at Punch Brand HQ, we’ve been busy designing and developing a new line of crazyheads cotton hoodies. We know how much you love the Black & White Stripe Hoodies, our first batch sold out in weeks. We’ve been working hard to produce the new batch, so we’re happy to announce that we will have the Black & White Stripe Hoodies back in stock by the end of this month!! Not only that, it gets even better… we have new colors! yipeee!!! We have Black & Purple Stripe and Black & Blue Stripe as well. It’s been hard to contain my excitement throughout these last few weeks. But now we’re ready to show them to you!! Ta Da!

Black & Purple Stripe Panda Hoodie

These hoodies are super comfy and can be worn in the winter and spring months. They make a great layering piece as a jacket during spring time. They are made of high quality 95% Cotton/ 5% Spandex French Terry fabric, so they are comfortable and durable. They also have a band on the cuff and the hem. The hood is fully lined with cotton jersey.

In addition, to the Stripe Hoodies, we also have a new Cotton version of our Black Cat Hoodie (finally, I know!) and our White Panda Hoodie with Black Sleeves. So now you can finally wear our hoodies in the Spring and Summer months!! We should have these all posted in our shop by the end of this week. Stay tuned…

The wait is over: Hooded Smitts are here!

What do you get when you combine our original crazyheads smitts with the hood from our hoodies???

The next evolution of function and style of course! The result is our new Hooded Smitts.
Our crazyheads Hooded Smitt is a 3-in one hood, scarf & mitt combo. It features a fully lined hood made from super soft “minkie” fabric and comes in 3 adorable styles- White Panda, Black Cat and Orange Fox. This truly innovative item is great to wear during the Fall and Winter months. It will keep the wearer cozy and warm. The great thing is that they are made right here in Vancouver, BC.

Our original smitts which debuted in Fall 2007 was a 6 foot long 2-in 1 scarf and mitt combo with embroidered paws on the hands. It took a while for it to catch on as it was a totally unique item that nobody had seen before. We designed it to add functionality to an existing accessory, which you could keep your hands warm or use the mitts as a pocket! It grew into one of our most popular items which was available in 8 colorways. Well we saw what was happening in the marketplace and responded with what we feel is a natural evolution of our product line. The hood is cut from the same pattern as our hoodie and what’s great about it is that it’s one size fits all. They do make great gifts too!
