Our Punch Brand Cat has a name, it’s Meelo and here’s her story:

Meelo is little cat who loves to travel. Although she appears small and fragile, she is an adrenaline junkie. She enjoys extreme sports and zip lining. Adventure follows wherever she goes. Her dream is to bring back fun ideas and stories that will inspire both her and her friends. Her best friend, Panda Jam is a chef. During her travels her favorite experiences usually include art, nature and food.

Meelo’s Friends include Panda Jam & Fang the Fox:

Panda Jam is Meelos’ best friend. He is a world class sushi chef. His specialties are unagi sushi and salmon nigiri. He often has Meelo tasting his latest creations and he dislikes being told she’s his guinea pig. He’s constantly testing his taste buds, he’s a little on the chubby side.

Fang The Fox
Affectionately nicknamed as ” Fang” by good friends Meelo and Jam for his single fang feature. Yet no one really knows his real name and why he only has one fang? It may have something to with his past and a series of misadventures he’s partaken with Meelo and Jam. Which is perhaps the reason why Fang is quite the “scaredy cat” and to this day remains cautious and skeptical when he’s approached by Meelo and her “crazy” extreme adventure plans.

Desucon is an annual exhibition held at the Oslo Convention Centre on June 26-27 where it focuses on Japanese culture, science fiction and fantasy.

I am so happy to unveil our latest cat hat colours. This was our first hat design that was ever produced- our pink/ black cat hat. It’s a classic, and now it’s available in a rainbow of colours. Those of you at A-Kon in Dallas were the first to see them. The red and purple ones seem to be the most popular. Which colour is your favorite?

The Smitts are our own invention. They are a combination between a scarf and a mitten. This unique item has caught on since we introduced them- once people figured out what they were : ) They are available in an assortment of colors but the black ones have been our most popular seller. We get a lot of feedback and suggestions from people. One of the most common one is like this one from a fan ” Its nice but i think the smitt should be black with a white paw so people can use them to match the panda hoodie.” We thought this was a great idea. That’s why we’re introducing Black Smitts with White, Red & Blue embroidered paws!

We’re always looking to improve our products so we’re always open to suggestions. We’d love to hear your comments, so keep ‘em coming.

Looking back at some old pictures of conventions we’ve done for the past five years, I can’t help but to feel nostalgic yet proud at the same time. We’ve really come a long way. For some of those fans who still remember us from our very first convention- Toronto Anime Con, will know just how far we’ve come. From the 2 original hat designs, white bunny hat and black cat hat. (Hey, I was pretty proud after sewing those first prototypes! ) We even found a cheesy old video of me modeling the bunny hat prototype. I’m a wee bit embarrassed to show this right now (maybe I’ll consider posting it for our 10 years! ha ha) But I did find this photo of our first convention display. Check out those graphics on our cardboard cut outs complete with the bunny silhouettes!

Ever since they announced that Vancouver will be the host city for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, most of us in Canada have been waiting with anticipation. Now with the start of the games only being a few weeks away, the anticipation and excitement heighten especially for the people living in the Vancouver area. For myself, originally being from Vancouver I am equally as excited.  The  Olympic flame has been traveling across the country making it’s way to it’s final destination. Personally I am a huge fan of alpine skiing, but as an artist I am most enthusiastic about the 3 mascots- Quatchi, Miga & Sumi, they even have a sidekick Mukmuk. These mascots were created by our friends at Meomi. They are such a talented bunch, and we are so fortunate to have them take time from their busy schedule to collaborate with us. It’s a new year and we have a lot of exciting things lined up for 2010. But first, lets do a recap of 2009. It was an amazing year for us with a lot of new product launches such as a cool new foxy hoodie in grey, a black bunny hoodie, cute wallets and 2 new graphic t-shirts. Most importantly 2009 was the year for many new artist collaborations. We launched 3 Artist Series Limited Edition Hats with such high profile artists like Meomi, Skaffs & Momorobo. With these products we pushed the boundaries of innovation by merging our love for anime and art and combining it with our most popular hat styles.

Besides so many new products, we did a record number of conventions- 23 to be exact, that’s more than ever before. Whoa! I managed to rack up a tonne of mileage points which amounted for a few free flights too. Woohoo!  Last year we did many shows across the nation, in the US and abroad including doing 3 conventions in Europe. I don’t even want to think about how I did it, but let’s just say I really enjoyed my little break during the Christmas holidays.

So for 2010, here’s a sneak preview. We have a lot of new products coming down the line. Our latest addition were 2 new graphic tees designed by Designer Pamela Thompson. Our little cat wallets were such a hit last year that we are adding a long wallet (which a lot of people have been asking for) and a coin wallet. Even more exciting, we have our own line of branded tote bags coming soon! Here’s a sneak peek at these lovely canvas bags.

Last but not least, here’s some big news about our hoodies. We continue to build on our ever popular panda hoodies by offering new lighweight stretchy cotton panda hoodies. These hoodies are so soft, they are made with stretchy French Terry and are perfect for Spring. As you can see there are a lot of exciting things lined up. And I’ve only scratched the surface ; P

On the convention front, we will be attending many of your favorite cons in your area. Stay tuned for updates on our convention tour schedule.
