New York Comic Con this weekend

Hey Everyone. I’m writing this update from my hotel room in NYC. We just spent a day traveling and now we’ve finally landed in the Big Apple. We’re here for New York Comic Con. This trip has special meaning for me and not just because of the convention. I lived here 10 years ago, while working as a Technical Designer for Dollhouse. I left just before 9/11 and have not been back since then. And this time I’m here with my OWN business, exhibiting at the nation’s 2nd largest convention!!! How cool is that!

This is the biggest pop culture convention on the East Coast! Our booth is located in the anime section in the Exhibit Hall, booth# 364.

About NYCC:
New York Comic Con is the East Coast’s biggest and most exciting popular culture convention. Our show floor plays host to the latest and greatest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies, and television. Our panels and autograph sessions give fans a chance to interact with their favorite creators. Our screening rooms feature sneak peeks at films and television shows months before they hit either big or small screens. And with dedicated professional hours, New York Comic Con is a market place, bringing together the major players in the entertainment industry. New York Comic Con is the second largest pop culture convention in America and the only one that takes place in the comic book, publishing, media, and licensing capital of the world — Gotham City.

Toronto visit and AWA update

Hey Guys,
I apologize for being a bit behind on my updates, it’s been a bit crazy lately. I’ve been busy developing a new product which I’m planning to launch at New York Comic Con so I’ve been a bit crunched for time. Trying to source the exact fabrics I want has been challenging and I’m working with a new contractor to get it made. It took about a week to get the sample made and corrected. And this week I got all the things ready to go into production. I’m very lucky to have help with my production. I’ve had to work with several different contractors over the years, and it hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride. When you’re working with contractors you really have to keep a close eye on your stuff cause I’ve had a few mishaps happen even after giving exact instructions. It’s not the most easiest thing to deal with but I have to credit my production background, and working in the fashion industry for 10 years really helped. It really enables me to communicate better and deal with contractors to ensure things go smoothly. Speaking of contractors, while I was back in Toronto last month, I caught up with my old contractors who have been there since my early days. I’ve been working with this great team of people for almost as long as I’ve been in business. So it was great to see them again and this time I made sure to get a team photo. I want to acknowledge this wonderful group who helped make my hats and hoodies over the years. Thanks Wilma! Hooray!

Fan Expo 2011 Re-cap

Hey Guys! We’re back from Toronto. Fan Expo Canada was a lot of fun this year. This year’s show broke attendance records with almost 80,000 attendees!  It marked a milestone for us as this was our 6th year doing the show. (Many people still remember us from early days when we started with 1 table in artist alley.) This was our biggest and most stocked booth to date. We also had our new banners and postcards with the pictures taken from our latest photoshoot. I think the booth looked really colorful and fun. A few familiar faces passed by including Tommy Tallarico and LIGHTS!

Convention recap and updates

We are now more than 2/3 the way through our convention schedule. So far we have done over 22 conventions this year alone. And each show has been done with either my husband or myself or both of us there. So every show there was at least one of us there. We have traveled across Canada from Victoria to Montreal. Through the US from Seattle to Dallas to Boston. We’ve even done a few shows in Europe too…whew!!! So we’ve really been busy spreading the crazyheads brand message across the country and internationally. This is our 6th year in the business and have probably completed well over 100 conventions over the years. That adds up to a lot of Air Miles, ha ha. Yeah we have gotten some free flights out of it. But most importantly we’ve made some really good friends in every city and have met so many of our fans face to face. That’s the best part of it and it’s what keeps us going. We love being out there meeting our customers and fans. I even got a nice card once from a fan I had corresponded with over e-mail. I was helping her with a school project and didn’t think much of it until I got a hand written thank you note. That just makes it all worth while….

Anyways, I just thought I’d post up some pics of the past shows we’ve done this year. Some of them are of our booth and the different shows. Hope you enjoy seeing them and hope to see you at a show near you!
